-
- Preparation Time: 1 hour
- Serves: 4
-
- Ingredients:
- Steak Patties:
- 1 lbs Ground Beef
- ½ c Italian Bread Crumbs
- 3 tblspn Worcestershire Sauce
- Pepper to taste
- No Salt!
-
- Gravy:
- 2 cubes Beef Bouillon
- ½ c Hot Water
- ½ c All Purpose Flour
- 2 c Milk
- Pepper to taste
- No Salt!
-
- Directions:
- Place the beef bouillon cubes in the ½ c Hot Water
and set aside.
(This will give your cubes time to dissolve).
- Mix beef, bread crumbs, worchestershire sauce and pepper
into a medium mixing bowl.
- Knead beef well to ensure all ingredients are mixed together
well.
- Form into ½ inch thick, oval shaped patties. You should
get 4 patties out of this mix.
- Spray a large skillet with Pam spray.
- Over medium heat, cook the patties until they are thoroughly
cooked.
- Remove patties from the skillet, set aside and keep warm.
-
- Gravy:
- Add the Flour to the skillet with the patty drippings and
brown slightly.
- Pour in the milk and mix well over medium heat.
- Add the beef bouillon water. Make sure all the cubes dissolved
thoroughly.
- Add pepper to taste. (DO NOT add salt, there's enough salt
in the bouillon).
- Use a fork to stir the gravy. Press the fork in any of the
flour that clumped during the mixing process.
- Allow gravy to bubble, but not boil. Continually stir until
desired thickness.
-
- Serve:
- Place steak patties onto individual dinner plates.
- Using a gravy ladle, cover steak with 2 or 3 helpings of
gravy.
- Serve warm with your favorite veggies.
-
- Alternatives:
- Consider adding parsley or basil to the salsbury steak mixture.
About ½ cup of either herb will add an alternative flavor
to the beef.
- Consider adding ½ saute onion to the gravy.
- Dice ½ small onion
- Add a small pad of butter to the beef drippings, before placing
the flour into the skillet.
- Saute the onion until soft.
- Add flour and continue the above steps for the gravy mix.
